About Me
Nice to meet you, I am Efrat and I live in Auroville, an international community in Tamil Nadu, South India, on the shores of the Bay of Bengal.
I moved to Tamil Nadu more than two decades ago. I define myself as a cook, a collector of local and home-style dishes, and a storyteller who brings to life the narratives simmering behind the pots. I host and cook for conceptual culinary events and lead Mediterranean cooking workshops in India.
My kitchen travels between the Middle East and Tamil Nadu. I love gathering traditional, home-cooked, thoughtful, nourishing recipes from around the world and weaving them together with colours, words, and flavours.
My creations extend beyond the plate—I use art to illustrate my personal culinary journey, bringing stories into life, with local, nostalgic materials that evoke joy and a sense of timelessness.
Over the years of living and cooking here, I have shared wonderful meals with people who love food as much as I do. I have collected recipes that transform beloved dishes into something simple, approachable, and deeply satisfying.
Here, in Auroville, I continue to explore the rich tapestry of flavours, colours, stories & culinary traditions, reflecting on my life in Tamil Nadu, from the lush forest surroundings to my role as an 'ambassador'', introducing Indian cuisine outside of India and sharing Middle Eastern flavours within India.
