My Story
Efrat Devir is a seasoned culinary professional, an artist and a writer who shares tales of food and authentic slow living through her culinary lens.
Based in Auroville, Tamil Nadu, since 2000.
Author of the book ‘Happiness Tastes Like Curry: My Indian Kitchen’ a finalist for the Gourmand World Cookbook Award in the Indian Cooking category.
My culinary journey combines an enthusiastic passion for Middle Eastern cuisine, which I grew up with and have professionally practiced since my childhood in a kibbutz, along with a long-term experience of cooking in India.
Here, in Auroville, I continue to explore the rich tapestry of flavors, colors, stories & culinary traditions, reflecting on my life in Tamil Nadu, from the lush forest surroundings to my role as a cultural ambassador, introducing Indian cuisine outside of India and sharing Middle Eastern flavors within India.
Food is a connection, something we share, speak of, and tell stories about.
Cooking is an adventure and a journey into new areas of taste.
It's a way to express on a plate what we cannot always put into words. We share who we are through food.
